In 1912, Sofi Tucker began selling shea nuts at the Bonthe village market in Sierra Leone. By the time she was 19, the widowed mother of four was selling shea butter, African black soap, and her own skin and hair preparations all over the country. Sofi Tucker is our grandmother, and SheaMoisture is her legacy.
